Parent Message 9-5-21
Dear Falcon Families,
It was such a pleasure seeing students back on campus this past week. I hope everyone had a fun and safe return and enjoyed being in their classes “Zoom free”. We will continue to do everything we can to keep staff and students safe so that we can have a successful school year. Due to Labor Day, there will be no school tomorrow, September 6th. School will resume as normal on Tuesday, September 7th. I want to emphasize an important reminder to complete the COVID-19 Testing Acknowledgement Form by September 10th. I have included information on how to do that below. Additionally, I have created a Google Document which contains all of the safety guideline “highlights” you need to know. I will continue to update the document as needed and do my best to highlight the new information. I know there is a lot to keep up with so I will do my best to streamline all of the information and make it easily accessible. Here are the latest updates as of 9-5-21.
* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.
No School Monday, September 6th
There will be no school on Monday, September 6th for the Labor Day Holiday.
Important: COVID-19 Testing Acknowledgement Form – Due September 10th
On Thursday, August 27th, SDUSD sent information about the COVID-19 Testing Acknowledgement Form. See this Link: COVID-19 Testing Acknowledgement Form if you missed it. All families are now required to make a choice about COVID testing by September 10th. See this Link: COVID-19 Testing Acknowledgement Form Instructions for a step by step tutorial of how to complete the form online. See this Link: COVID-19 Testing Acknowledge Form ScreenCast for video instructions of how to complete the form. The process should take less than 5-minutes to complete. If you prefer a paper form, please contact the SRHS front office at 858-302-3400.
Fall Open House
Our Open House will be Tuesday, September 14th at 5pm. Because of the safety guidelines, Open House will take place virtually through Zoom. The live Virtual Open House will begin at 5pm. Teachers are also being asked to record their live session or make another video for those families that have tech issues or who can’t make the live session. Videos will be posted on a separate website so parents will have access to view them. I will send out the information of how to log into live Open House as well as how to access Open House videos in next Sunday’s update.
Athletic Safety Update
This past Wednesday the California Department of Public Health updated their athletic guidelines. The guidelines now state students participating in indoor sports need to have their masks on even when they are competing in the actual contest (before the guidelines stated for student athletes competing to wear their masks as tolerable). Outdoor rules are not changing for student athletes. Masks are still required for all fans for both indoor and outdoor sports.
I have put all of the safety guideline reminders in a Google Document so you can access it as needed. These are the same guidelines I have put out in my previous Sunday updates. When there are updates, I will state updated as of xx-xx-xx on document so you can easily find newest information. See this Link: Safety Guideline Highlights 2021-22.
This is a reminder that on Tuesday, September 7th, all 9th grade students will take their school photo during their PE or AFJROTC class. Wednesday, September 8th all 10th and 11th graders who did not take their picture during Kickoff can take their picture before school beginning at 8:15am or during lunch.
Counselors have been available all week outside of the counseling office during passing periods, before school, at lunch and after school to assist students with schedule concerns. In support of our students and teachers, counselors are done taking requests for changes to avoid disruption to the learning process. If a student believes they are misplaced in the level of a course and their teacher agrees, then their teacher needs reach out directly to the counselor.
Emails from Counselors
The counselors and the counseling secretary (Sandy Kish) have already started sending messages to students through their sandi.net email account. Please make sure your student checks their student email account daily for important messages from the school. All students have an email account using their student ID and ending with @stu.sandi.net
The counselors will be using the counseling website (srhscounseling.com) to share information with students, including important upcoming dates. Please make sure your student is aware of this website and checks their grade level page for pertinent information this year. Items get added throughout the year.
Stay in the know
In addition to the counseling website, the counselors also share information through an instagram page "srhs.counseling", as well as a seniors only instagram page, "srhs.seniorvision_2022"
That’s all for today. Thank you and I hope you have a great Labor Day.
