Dear Falcon Families,
Happy Halloween. I hope you are enjoying some fun activities with your family and friends. Our Halloween Spirit Week this past week was a lot of fun. This week, I’ve included information on our upcoming WASC visit, AP test payments, the Wednesday College Series, some counseling updates and more. Here are the latest updates as of 10-31-21.
* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.
No School Thursday, November 11th
There will be no school Thursday, November 11th due to the Veteran’s Day Holiday. Because of the holiday, Wednesday, November 10th will be a traditional period 1 – 6 day as opposed to a block period 1, 3, 5 day.
WASC Visit November 15 – 17th
WASC stands for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The WASC committee is a committee that visits schools every 3-6 years, examines the school’s data, progress since last visit, action plan for improvement, and decides accreditation. We have been working hard the last two years to write our report and be ready for this visit. The WASC visiting committee comes to SRHS virtually November 15 – 17th. During this time, they will virtually attend classrooms to see instruction take place, meet with administration, teachers, students, and meet with stakeholder committees such as School Site Council, the SRHS Foundation and the Site Governance Team. We’re looking forward to showcasing all of the amazing things we do at SRHS.
AP Test Payment
You now have the option to pay your child’s AP Exam thru SchoolCash. Deadline to pay for the exam is November 15th. Please note that paying thru SchoolCash is subject to processing fee. This is not a District imposed fee, it’s from using the SchoolCash website. Paying at the Finance Office Window during Student Services Hours is another option to pay without the processing fee and accepting cash or checks only.
Parking Lots Closed Due to Maintenance on Solar Panels
On Saturday, November 6th, the parking lots with solar panels will be closed to all students, staff and families. If you are on campus for any activities on this day, please park in the 700 building parking lot or behind the bungalows.
Wednesday College Series
The Scripps Ranch High School Foundation is excited to announce the Wednesday College Series this Wednesday, November 3, 2021 will feature the admissions counselors from: Gettysburg College; Loyola Chicago; University of California, Santa Barbara; University of Washington; and Washington University in Saint Louis. This week's presentation will be held via Zoom from 1:05-1:35pm and requires a registration. 10th Grade Presentation
The Sophomore Presentation will be given during English classes on 11/3 & 11/4. The presentation and Sophomore Resource Packet will be made available on the counseling website under the Sophomore page after all presentations are complete. Counselors will be in the English classes on 11/5 as a follow-up for any questions that may arise after watching the presentation and reviewing the packet.
Butterfly Effect Presentation
On Friday, 10/29, all 9th and 10th grade students attended our Butterfly Effect Presentation during their PE/AFJROTC period in the theater. This year we will have Butterfly Drops (winner gets to donate money to a charity of their choice), Gratitude Grams and many other special activities planned for the year! The Butterfly Effect encourages us all to think about what’s close and dear to our hearts and where we want to make a difference by giving of our time or talent. We thank you all for your support and look forward to your student’s involvement to this wonderful initiative on our campus. “Be the change…”
Home & CCAP Students
By Wednesday, November 3rd, all Seniors who are enrolled in Assigned Time Home, and Juniors and Seniors who have CCAP classes must have a sticker on their current student ID. If they do not have a sticker they will not be allowed off campus by security. Students should stop by the counseling office before school, at lunch or after school if they have not picked up their sticker yet.
Common Application- Mandatory FERPA Waiver to Send Transcripts
Seniors using the Common Application to apply to colleges will need to complete the FERPA waiver and upload a screenshot of the completed waiver onto their Storyboard in Xello. Click here for information about the FERPA waiver and how it can be added to the storyboard. School forms, including the student transcript, cannot be sent until the FERPA waiver is uploaded into Xello with the correct information showing.
That’s all for this evening. Thanks, and enjoy the rest of your Halloween.
