Dear Falcon Families,

Thanksgiving break is upon us. I want to wish you all a restful, fun week of love and happiness with your families. In this season of thanks, I want to send my sincerest “thank you” and appreciation for your support during this very challenging school year. I am thankful to work in such a special community and I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. I don’t plan to send an update next Sunday unless some important information comes out, so this update will include information for the week of November 30th. Here are the latest updates as of 11-22-20.

*I was asked by our student representatives that serve on the School Site Council to remind parents to please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info. ASB is also working to include blurbs from my weekly messages on their social media @scrippsranchasb

Counseling Department:

Grade Level Presentations & Packets:

All grades now have a presentation and supporting resource packet uploaded to the counseling website. The presentations and packets can be found on their grade level pages. Please encourage your student to review these items. They include important information about academics, college and personal growth (community service/internships) https://www.srhscounseling.com/class-info

We have completed the open labs for college applications, however students can still reach out to their counselor individually if they need additional help.

Please remind your senior student to go to the Senior page on Counseling website for information about the college application process, directions for how to request transcripts and letters of recommendation.

Transcripts & Letters of Recommendation Requests: Remember students must request items at least 2 weeks in advance of a college application due date, not including breaks when school is out of session. There is a chart with deadlines on the Senior page. If students have already requested for letters of recommendation to be sent by their teacher and add more colleges at a later date, they will need to email the teachers to let them know they would like them to forward their letter.

IMPORTANT REMINDER! University of California (UC) applications are due November 30thand the California State University (CSU) applications are due December 4th. Do not wait until the last minute to submit applications in case you have questions from the admissions office (wait times are long near the deadline) or if the system has problems accepting applications with so many students submitting their applications right before the deadline.

Students Picking up Textbooks or Classroom Materials

There will be no pick-up days for this week. For the week of November 30th, students who need to pick up classroom materials, see this Link: Item Pick-up for the protocol.

That is all for today. I again want to thank you all for your support and wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving.
