Parent Message 5-30-21
Dear Falcon Families,
I hope you are enjoying a fun Memorial Day Weekend. Tomorrow there is no school due to the holiday so we will resume on Tuesday, June 1st for our final 2 weeks of the school year. I have a pretty short update today so I have also included some reminders for your reference. The new updates include a link to all of the activities to close off the 2020-21 school year, information for 11th grader students to opt-in to the math and English CAASPP exam as well as details for summer Chromebook care for our current 9-11th graders. Additionally, senior families, be sure to look at the 2021 graduation website a few times a week as we are continually adding information. I am getting very excited to see you all at Petco Park and celebrate the success and achievements of our senior class together. It has been a unique year to say the least! Here are the latest updates as of 5-30-21.
* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.
Senior Activities and Ceremony Updates
We are continuing to add information to the 2021 graduation website. Be sure to check it out a few times a week to see the latest information. The link to the website is in the header.
End of the Year Activities
See this Link: End of Year Activities for the remaining activities of the 2020-21 school year. It’s hard to believe there are only a few weeks left!
Student Summer Chromebook Info
As mentioned in the end of the year activities documents, students in 9th, 10 and 11th grade will keep their Chromebooks over the summer. We have complied information to ensure students know how to care for their Chromebook so it’s ready for next school year. See this link for the details: https://sites.google.com/sandi.net/srhs-student-summer-tech-info/home.
Opportunity for the CAASPP Exam – 11th graders
We will host the CAASPP exam for those 11th graders that choose to opt in for both English and Math using this Link: CAASPP Exam Opt-in. Students will not take the science portion of the assessment as it is not being offered this year. The assessments will be held over two days:
Tuesday, June 8th ELA approximate time 3 hours (9am-12pm)
Wednesday, June 9th Math approximate time 2 and a half hours (9am-11:30am)
Why would 11th graders take the CAASPP Exam?
The 11th grade CAASPP exam provides students with the opportunity to take advantage of the Early Assessment Program (EAP) that could determine math and English placement in the CSU system. Here is a link for parents and families regarding the EAP program.
Reminder: Free COVID Testing for Students
This is a reminder that SDUSD in partnership with UCSD is offering free COVID testing for students who come onsite for any reason (hybrid, athletes, band, AFJROTC, Theatre, etc.). Please see this Link: SRHS COVID Testing for details. Testing is optional.
Course Request Changes for 2021-22 school year
On Wednesday, June 2nd starting at 9:00 A.M. students will be able to see their course requests in the Student Portal through PowerSchool. If a student did not submit their courses in Power School and/or the elective choice google form during articulation, then classes were uploaded for them. If classes look different than what a student uploaded it is because they did not meet the prerequisite during articulation, so their class was changed. Starting on June 2nd, students can complete this google form if they would like to change the level of a core subject class in their requests, e.g. English, math, science, history and LOTE. All elective change requests will be accepted on a different form during Kick-off. Students should confirm they meet the prerequisite for the new level of the course they are selecting on the form prior to submitting. https://www.srhscounseling.com/course-descriptions All forms will be reviewed by counseling and changes will be made if the student meets the prerequisites, there is room in the class and it fits in their schedule. Changes made will be confirmed at Kick-off. Deadline to submit the form is JUNE 6th.
