Parent Message 5-23-21
Dear Falcon Families,
I hope you had a good week and are ready to finish off the 2020-21 school year strong. This coming Friday and Monday there is no school due to the Memorial Day holiday. Very soon I will be sending out a survey to families to ask them to choose their learning choice for the 2021-22 school year. I do not know a lot of details at this point, however, I have included what I do know below. I will continue to send out information as I receive it. In this update, I have included additional details for the Class of 2021 graduation ceremony at Petco Park as well as some reminders and the links again for the California Health Kids Survey. Please be sure to complete the survey by May 28th! Here are the latest updates as of 5-23-21.
* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.
Non School Days
This coming Friday, May 28th and the following Monday, May 31st there will be no school due to the Memorial Day holiday. We’ll be back on Tuesday, June 1st to have a great finish to the school year.
Family Survey: Learning Option for the 2021-22 School Year
For 9-11th grade families. Soon, I will be sending out a survey to ask you what your child’s learning option choice will be for the 2021-22 school year. As of the time I am writing this update, all I know about the survey is that I will be able to run it through Google Forms and not through Illuminate (great news). I am still awaiting details regarding what should be included in the survey. Regarding learning options for next school year:
Families will be asked to choose between two learning options: online or onsite. Families will be given one week to make this decision once the survey goes out. Onsite will be at Scripps Ranch High School with a traditional 6-period day bell schedule from 8:45am – 3:33pm. The school day will match our “pre-covid” school day. Students who choose online will go to school through a central “virtual academy.” This “virtual academy” will not be a part of Scripps Ranch High but will be a magnet school within SDUSD. I understand there may be a lot of questions so I will send out information as soon as I receive it.
Senior Graduation Ceremony Updates
On Friday we received a lot of answers to your graduation ceremony questions. See the 2021 Graduation website (the link is in the header) for the latest details.
California Healthy Kids (CHKS) Survey – Parent Version and Student Version
This is a reminder to please take the parent version of the California Healthy Kids Survey by May 28th. Also, please encourage your child to take the student version as well. Both surveys take between 25-35 min each. Here are the links:
The parent and student links are different so please be sure you are taking the correct survey.
Reminder: Alternative State Testing
A reminder that Period 2 on Wednesday teachers will give the CORE Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Survey. The survey will take 15 minutes.
Reminder: Opportunity for the CAASPP Exam – 11th graders
I apologize, I’m still waiting on additional details. Here is the info that I have (same as last week).
There is still an opportunity for 11th graders to take the CAASPP exam if they choose to. 11th graders will have to opt in in order to take the CAASPP. See the below blurb from SDUSD:
Why would 11th graders take the CAASPP Exam?
The 11th grade CAASPP exam provides students with the opportunity to take advantage of the Early Assessment Program (EAP) for math and English placement in the CSU system. If students do not take the CAASPP, they will not have scores available for the EAP program. Here is link for parents and families regarding the EAP program.
Reminder: Free COVID Testing for Students
This is a reminder that SDUSD in partnership with UCSD is offering free COVID testing for students who come onsite for any reason (hybrid, athletes, band, AFJROTC, Theatre, etc.). Please see this Link: SRHS COVID Testing for details. Testing is optional.
COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
In Saturday’s district email to families, SDUSD shared the opportunity for anyone in the community (ages 12 and up) to receive the free COVID-19 vaccine. Under the latest CDC guidance and recommendation the Pfizer vaccine is available at all school-based clinics for anyone 12 years of age or older:
Sharp HealthCare Clinics from 10:00 am -4:30 pm
Tuesday 5/18: Mira Mesa HS | Wednesday 5/19: Madison HS | Thursday 5/20: Mission Bay HS
UC San Diego Health Clinics from 10:00 am -4:30 pm

Summer School is filling up! We are still accepting summer school applications, but space is limited so please sign up your students as soon as possible to make sure they get the classes they need! Information about summer school and the required applications can be found on the SRHS counseling website summer school page
Summer Enrichment Opportunities
Summer enrichment programming is being offered by the district’s VAPA, CCTE, and community partners throughout June, July, and August 2021. Enrichment opportunities will include sports camps, STEAM-based experiences, access to UCSD Extension courses, and UC Scout online AP courses. There is limited space in the college and AP courses.
