Dear Falcon Families,

I hope you are continuing to stay safe and healthy. SDUSD is holding a vaccine education workshop for those parents that are interested on Wednesday, February 24th at 5:15pm. I have included the flyer below with the details. Additionally, this past Friday, Governor Newsom announced some new youth sports guidelines which will impact the timeline for certain sports beginning this year. I have included a link to an article below but do not yet know how that will directly impact SDUSD and SRHS. Those details are forthcoming. Our counselors have also quite a few updates to share pertaining to articulation, CCAP classes, and important information for current seniors. Here are the latest updates as of 2-21-21

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

Athletic Updates

On Friday Governor Newsome made an announcement that loosens the rules for youth sports and would permit most outside sports to play given certain restrictions. You can read this Link: NBC7 San Diego Youth Sports for the details of the announcement. At this time, I do not know how this will impact SDUSD and SRHS specifically. Our Athletic Director, Coach Wilson, will share the latest information on the athletic website once it becomes available. The link to the athletic website is in the header at the top of this message.

Counseling Updates

Articulation Updates:

  • Class of 2024: Current Freshman have completed articulation. Any student who did not upload their class requests into the Student Portal, had them completed by their counselor. Counselors are also reviewing the courses students requested to make sure they have met the prerequisites and can be prepared for success. If you chose a class you are not qualified to take at this time, for many classes it is not too late to be qualified by the end of the year! Please review the prerequisites for the courses you chose to confirm that you met the prerequisites, so that you are aware of whether-or-not you need to raise your grade or earn a Teacher recommendation at the end of the year. Prerequisites can be checked on the Course Descriptions on the Counseling website.

  • Class of 2023: Last week, sophomore students were notified to input their course requests into Student Portal AND complete the Elective Choice Google Form by midnight on Sunday, February 21st. Students were also given an opportunity to sign up for an (optional) follow-up, one-on-one meeting with their counselor the week of Feb. 22nd-Feb 26th. The link for booking was sent to students on Feb 18th and the deadline to book is Sunday, February 21st. Any student who did not upload their class requests into the Student Portal AND/OR complete the Google Choice Google Form, will have them completed by their counselor. All articulation materials are posted on the Sophomore page on the Counseling website

  • Class of 2022: Current Juniors will start articulation on March 1st. Tell your student to check the Junior page on the Counseling website at 3:30 P.M. for their articulation video with instructions about how to choose courses and additional support documents, including the articulation card with class options. Please encourage your student to speak with their current teachers if they are unsure of what course to take next year and use the Course Descriptions on the Counseling website to learn more about the classes and the prerequisites to get into the classes.

Dual Enrollment (CCAP/MOU) for Miramar College Courses next year! (Current Sophomores & Juniors ONLY)

There was a Community College Presentation on February 18th at 5:00 P.M. for all current 10th & 11th grade students (and their parents) who are interested in requesting a Miramar Dual Enrollment (CCAP or MOU) class. If you and your student were unavailable at that time, you can now view the recorded presentation on the College Courses (Dual Enrollment) page on the counseling website. Viewing the live or recorded presentation is mandatory for all students (and their parents) requesting a college course, so students understand the expectations and commitment, as well as the long-term benefits or consequences based on their performance in the classes. Students should ONLY request college courses if they have met the prerequisites. Course descriptions and prerequisites can be found on the College Courses (Dual Enrollment) page. In the presentation, the process for requesting and being enrolled in a college course will be shared. If the steps needed to be enrolled in Miramar College are not completed (which includes acquiring a CSID number if the student does not already have one), the student will not be enrolled in the course.

Mid-Year Transcripts. Our registrar sent out mid-year transcripts (and mid-year reports for Common App Colleges) last week to all colleges in which an initial transcript was sent. If a student did not complete the process for requesting an initial transcript, then a mid-year transcript was not sent. Students should check the Transcript Request page on the Counseling website for information about mid-year transcripts.

Cal Grant GPA Verification. GPA verification is done for all senior students who were enrolled in Scripps Ranch High School prior to December 4th of this school year. Students do NOT need their counselor or the registrar to complete the GPA Verification Form since this was automatically done by the district. However, if your student enrolled as a senior after December 4, 2020, please have them reach out to our registrar, Janay Lamar jlamar@sandi.net, to have their GPA uploaded.
