Parent Message 2-14-21
Dear Falcon Families,
I hope you are enjoying your Valentine’s Day. A quick reminder that there is no school tomorrow, February 15th, due to the President’s Day holiday. This update is the first update where I am including, in the header, the important links that you will want regular access to. The “SRHS News” link will always have the latest school information while the “SRHS Athletics” link will always have the latest athletics information. I will continue to provide this header in my future updates so each week you have these links readily accessible to you. This past week we had over 170 students attend our No Place for Hate Virtual High School Tour and one of our students did win an Xbox! For those Falcons in attendance, we hope you enjoyed the show and the message it brought forth. Today is a fairly short update with some exciting news to start us off. Back by popular demand, on Thursday, March 4th, SRHS in association with the SRHS Foundation will host a virtual “What I Wish My Parents Knew Event” from 6 – 8pm. I have included a flyer below. Here are the latest updates as of 2-14-21
* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

With multiple CIF seasons beginning and others on the cusp of starting up, there are too many updates to provide in my weekly message since information is evolving almost daily. To keep up with all of the latest athletic updates, you can go to our Scripps Ranch High athletic website: https://srfalcons.org. Our Athletic Director, Coach Todd Wilson, updates the website daily with the latest information.

Current Sophomores Start Articulation 2/16/21:
Please remind your student to check their school email on Tuesday (2/16/21) for information about articulation. The articulation video with directions and supporting documents will all be uploaded to the Sophomore page on the Counseling website at 3:30 P.M. on Tuesday, February 16th. The due date to upload their requests into PowerSchool Student Portal and submit the Elective Choice Google Form is Sunday, Feb. 21st by midnight. Students will receive another message in their school email account on Thursday, Feb. 18th with a link to book an optional meeting with their counselor the following week, if they have questions or concerns with the schedule they are choosing. Please encourage your student to speak with their current teachers if they are unsure of what course to take next year and use the Course Descriptions on the Counseling website to learn more about the classes and the prerequisites to get into the classes.
Dual Enrollment (CCAP/MOU) for Miramar College Courses next year! (Current Sophomores & Juniors ONLY)
There will be a Community College Presentation on February 18th at 5:00 P.M. for all current 10th & 11th grade students (and their parents) who are interested in requesting a Miramar Dual Enrollment (CCAP or MOU) class (Zoom Meeting ID 880 6171 0345). Staff from Miramar College and the district will be available during that meeting to help answer questions. If you and your student are unavailable at that time, you will still be able to view the recorded presentation on the College Courses (Dual Enrollment) page on the counseling website. Viewing the live or recorded presentation is mandatory for all students (and their parents) requesting a college course, so students understand the expectations and commitment, as well as the long-term benefits or consequences based on their performance in the classes. Students should ONLY request college courses if they have met the prerequisites. Course descriptions and prerequisites can be found on the College Courses (Dual Enrollment) page on the counseling website https://www.srhscounseling.com/college-courses-dual-enrollment There will also be a required CSID Google Form shared with students once the video is watched. This form must be submitted to remain eligible for the college courses. The CSID Google Form must be submitted by March 14th.
Current Juniors will start articulation on March 1st. Tell your student to check their grade level page on the counseling website for more information about articulation at 3:30 P.M. on March 1st.
