Dear Falcon Families,
Happy Superbowl Sunday! I’m sending my update early this Sunday morning so you can read it before the big game today. I hope you all have fun plans with friends and family. In today’s update, I’ve included an exciting announcement about obtaining an onsite mental health specialist five days a week to support SRHS students, a reminder about how to sign up for summer school, and registration info for students to give input on Standards Based Learning. I want to encourage SRHS students to sign up for the Standards Based Learning Input Sessions so they can learn and provide input to SDUSD. Here are the latest updates as of 2-13-22.
* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

2022 Level Up SD Summer Academic Program - Reminder
On Tuesday, February 1st, a message was sent out from the central office regarding the 2022 Level Up SD Summer Academic Program. Scripps Ranch High will be one of the host sites for this summer experience. The registration period is Feb 1st to Feb 28th. See this this Link: Summer Experience to enroll.
Student Mental Health Support
I am excited to announce that with district support, we were able to get a mental health specialist who will be onsite 5 days per week to support students. Our mental health specialist’s name is Seth Gans, and he works with a company called Wellness Together. Student referrals will go through our counseling staff.
Standards Based Learning Student Input Sessions
SDUSD’s Instructional Innovation Office is hosting input sessions to hear from secondary students on February 22nd at 5:30 p.m. SRHS students are encouraged to register and attend this meeting to learn more about Standards Based Learning and to lend their voice and feedback to the process. Click Link: Input Sessions Flier to sign up.

Starting this Monday, February 14th, counselors will be meeting one-on-one with students in their English classes to review their course requests, answer questions and make changes if needed. If your student has not submitted a card yet or has additional forms or applications they still need to submit, they can give them to their counselor during their meeting. Current 9th graders are meeting 2/14 -2/17, current 10th graders are meeting 2/22 - 2/25, current 11th graders 2/28 – 3/4.
Counselor availability during Articulation
We appreciate your understanding that it may take longer to return messages and we will not be able to schedule additional meetings over the next month, due to working outside our offices with all students.
The district sent an email to families regarding Extended Learning Opportunities for All. If your student has earned a D or F in any class while in high school and needs to remediate the class, please submit the request form by February 28th. Students can see their final grades on their Transcript in the Student Portal to confirm if any courses need to be remediated. Counselors will select the courses for summer school after the student is registered. Click here to register your student for summer school. Refer to the email for further information.
Counselors will automatically send a mid-year transcript to all Common App Colleges in which an initial transcript had been previously requested by a student and sent to the college. If a student needs a mid-year transcript sent to a college that does NOT use the Common App, they will need to re-request their transcript in Xello. Common App Mid-year transcripts are currently being sent by counselors and should be completed by mid-week. Students who have an IP on their transcript form semester 1 or who did not given permission for items to be sent to colleges in question 32A on the enrollment form, will not have transcripts sent at this time.
Mid-Year Transcripts for Students Taking College Courses
Students who are taking college courses will need to send a mid-year transcript to any college requesting mid-year transcripts. The transcript needs to be requested directly from the college.
Transcripts for CSU and UC colleges
Only request a mid-year transcript to a CSU or UC college if it they are requesting a transcript now. Most do not want a transcript until you have decided to attend the school and are accepting their offer of admissions or will just ask for a final transcript at the end of the year. When you do need a transcript sent to a CSU or UC school, in addition to requesting on Xello you must also email the registrar, Janay Lamar (email@example.com), to explain why you need the transcript. This is to confirm she is only sending transcripts when they are actually required.
That’s all for today. Thanks and enjoy your Sunday.
