Dear Falcon Families,

I hope you had a fun and enjoyable Thanksgiving with your families. From talking with staff, they felt rejuvenated getting a week off to relax and spend some quality time with family and friends. I hope your children feel similar as I know this year has been very difficult. We’ll continue to do our best to manage the different obstacles and ever-changing safety guidelines that arise so students can have a great school year. In today’s update, I’ve included a reminder for students to bring their computers to school daily, yearbook updates for seniors, clarification on the Housing Questionnaire email that was sent by the district on December 1st, a quick update about the vaccine requirement (I apologize, I have minimal info on this), an important and very welcomed Winter Athlete COVID Guidance update, and more. Here are the latest updates as of 12-5-21.

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

Canned Food Drive Success

During the month of November our AFJROTC Program held their annual canned food drive. I want to say a huge thank you to MSgt. Toledo, our cadets, and all the staff and families who donated canned goods. The final weight was 20,550 pounds! What a great gift for those in need during the holiday season.

Computer Reminder

This is a reminder that all students need to bring their fully charged computers to school every day. There are quite a few students going into the library to ask for loaners which we only have in small amounts. It is important that all students bring their fully charged computers with them to school every day so they are ready to participate in the classroom learning activities.

Yearbook Update

The Scripps Ranch High School Foundation is excited to announce that the Wednesday College Series being held via Zoom on December 8th from 1:05-1:35pm will feature Colorado State University, University of Denver, and University of South Florida. Students can use this Link: Wednesday College Series to register for the meeting and receive the Zoom link.

Enrollment Forms

Prior to break, families that had not turned in 1 or more enrollment forms for the 2021-22 school year received an email from our counseling secretary, Mrs. Kish. If you have not done so yet, please return the forms she attached to your email this week.

Housing Questionnaire

On December 1st, SDUSD sent this communication: Link: Housing Questionnaire for Families. Students can return this questionnaire to any of their teachers by December 17th for collection.

SDUSD COVID-19 Vaccine Update

On Sunday, November 28th, a legal injunction was issued which has temporarily stalled the SDUSD Vaccine Mandate that was set to go into effect December 20th. I apologize, but at this time I have not been given any follow up information pertaining to this temporary delay. I’m not sure how temporary this delay will be or what this means for unvaccinated students. I have been told that SDUSD is proceeding to have every eligible student vaccinated and will continue to offer students, staff and school communities daily opportunities to get vaccinated. I will be sure to share information as I receive it.

Counseling Updates

Grade Level Presentations

Counselors have now presented to all four grade levels. The presentations and supporting packets can be found on the specific grade level pages on the counseling website.

CSU Application Deadlines Extended

All CSU schools have extended their application deadline, with the exception of Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Click here to see the new deadlines. SDSU and CSU San Marco have a new deadline of December 15th.

Transcript Request and Letter of Recommendation request deadline reminder

Due to the winter break coming up, all requests for application due dates Dec. 15th- Jan 10th should have been requested by December 1st. However, if your student missed that due date, they can still submit their request now. This should be done ASAP to avoid having their items sent late. If a student needs items for a January 15th application deadline, they should be requested by December 15th. This information is also posted on the senior page.

The Common Scholarship Application will open Wednesday, December 1st. Click here to find scholarship flyers that may correspond to your students’ interests. There are also more than a dozen separate awards that are administered by The San Diego Foundation but not included in the Common Scholarship Application.

That’s all for this evening. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
