Dear Falcon Families,

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday evening. We are looking forward to our campus reopening tomorrow for our Phase 2 “hybrid” learners as well as continuing to support our “online only” learners through virtual instruction. In my Sunday evening updates I am going to send one update to all parents, so everyone has all of the information for continuity. That way if there are families that during the course of the next few weeks want to try the “hybrid” option, they are fully up to date on what to expect if we have enough space to accommodate. I will use a header to highlight when information is just for “hybrid” learners and just for “online only” learners. Feel free to skip to what is relevant to your child’s learning option. I will always start off with information for everyone and then deviate from there. I’ll make adjustments accordingly to ensure my communication is clear and informative. Here are the latest updates as of 4-11-21

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

Final Quarter 3 Grades

Final Quarter 3 grades will be available to view on Friday, April 16th via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Due to the school closure, report cards will not be sent home.

Learning Management System (LMS) Grid

Here is the Link: Learning Management System Grid 2020-21 so students can confirm they have added their teachers’ Learning Management System for tomorrow. If they haven’t done so already, teachers will send out messages with their Zoom information by tomorrow morning.

Schedule for the Remainder of the School Year

Tomorrow starts the beginning of Quarter 4. See this Link: SRHS Overall Bell Schedule for the overall schedule and this Link: Friday’s Beginning April 12th for specifically Friday’s schedule. These are the same links that I have sent out in the last few updates.

Student Opportunity for Class of 2022 & 2023 – Become a Trained Tutor

This summer students that are in the class of 2022 or 2023 are eligible to sign up for the EDU100 course, a 1-unit Mesa College course that is free to SDUSD students (in these graduating classes) and prepares students to be trained tutors. Being a tutor is a great way to support others, to secure paid work through college, and gain transferable work-based skills. In addition, this training makes students immediately eligible for tutoring positions if they choose to attend Mesa. See FLYER for more information. Please pass along this great opportunity to students.

Wednesday College Series

The Wednesday College Series this Wednesday, April 14th from 1-1:25pm is for those students who have been admitted to San Diego State University. To register for this meeting, please complete this Google Form: Wednesday College Series 2020-21. Please do not register using your sandi.net email, please use another email address. A zoom link will be emailed to you the morning of April 14th.

Counseling Updates

Counselor Availability

Counselors will meet with students through zoom or in-person. A counselor will be available outside of counseling during passing periods and right after school to answer general questions. If a student needs to meet with their counselor, they can email them to set up a meeting or wait to see if their counselor is available after 1:00 P.M. to meet in-person.

D or F earned in quarter 3

If your student earns a D or F in quarter 3 and needs to remediate that class for college admissions or graduation, please have them reach out to their counselor to come up with a remediation plan. If the course they need is offered through the online Edgenuity program, it would be helpful to reach out in the beginning of quarter 4 so that they have the most time complete the course.

Senior Students

Transcript Requests: By mid-April we will release information for how students can request “Final Transcripts” to send to their one chosen college to attend next year. Some colleges may also ask for progress grades on a transcript when accepting their admissions offer by the beginning of May. If your student’s chosen college needs a current/progress transcript, that should be requested on Naviance. If there are any special circumstances or additional info to be shared with the registrar, please include that in the note section when requesting the transcript.

Grad Speeches and National Anthem Auditions: As we near the end of the school year, we are looking for seniors who would like to be considered to address the Class of 2021 with a speech at graduation. There will be an opportunity for seniors to audition to perform the national anthem at graduation as well. Click here for more information about guidelines and due dates.

Interested in attending Miramar next year: Miramar College Outreach and School Relations will be hosting a Pre-Enrollment Workshop, April 14th at 1:30, for all seniors interested in attending Miramar College this upcoming Fall 2021. Please click on the link to register. https://tinyurl.com/bt3wn428

Still looking for Scholarships: All scholarships are listed in Naviance. Please check out Naviance to find these recently added community scholarships!

-------------------- “Hybrid” Student Update--------------------

Below are reminders that were sent out on April 9th. Please be sure to complete the Parent Acknowledgement Form before students return to campus.

Parent Acknowledgement Google Form – Mandatory Before Students Return Onsite

This is a reminder that all “hybrid” families need to read and electronically sign this Google Form: Parent Acknowledgement of Onsite Instruction Option prior to entry to Scripps Ranch High. Completion of this Acknowledgment is mandatory for onsite learning. Students will continue with off-site instruction until this form is electronically submitted. Students will not be allowed onsite until this form is completed.

Video for “Hybrid” Students

This past Wednesday we filmed a video for students sharing what hybrid learning will look like once they return to campus on Monday. We covered items like ClearPass, parking, entry onto campus, passing periods, entering/exiting classrooms, etc. See this Link: Phase 2 Video for “Hybrid” Students for the video. The intro begins with where to drop off your student if your student is not driving themselves.

Here is a map for the location of the different parking lots and buildings in the video: Link: SRHS Building and Parking Map.

ClearPass “Cheat Sheet”

See this Link: ClearPass for Students for a “cheat sheet” that will allow your student to quickly sign up for ClearPass and access it every day. I recommend students save the ClearPass website on their home screen as a “favorite” so they can easily access it daily. Students will need to show their green “You are safe to go to school” ClearPass message before they enter each of their classes (that’s periods 1, 2 and 3). The reason for this is students may not have a period 1, may not have a period 2, or may arrive to school late. Checking before each class ensures students are safe to be on campus regardless of what time they arrived at school.

Phase 2 QA Document

Here is the Link: Phase 2 SRHS QA to access my answers to your questions regarding Phase 2. This is the same document I provided the week of March 15th, just with a few answers to new questions. Scroll to the bottom of the document and you can see the recent answers I’ve provided.

-------------------- “Online Only” Student Update--------------------

Picking up Classroom Materials - revised

For “online only” students who need to pick up classroom materials, see this Link: Item Pick-up for the dates and the protocol.

That’s all for today. Have a great rest of the evening.
