Dear Falcon Families,

It has been a lot of fun seeing students back on campus while also continuing to support those students attending classes via Zoom. On Monday, we are welcoming back approximately 50 additional students to campus for the “hybrid” learning option. Those families should have received a notification via School Messenger on Friday morning confirming their return date for this Monday. Included in this update is a reminder about Saturday’s SRHS Foundation Taste of the Ranch virtual event, information about an exciting senior picture, some counseling updates as well as important reminders for both “hybrid” learners and “online only” learners. Here are the latest updates as of 4-25-21

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

Class of 2021 Senior Picture

We are keeping the Senior Class Photo tradition alive this year! On Friday, May 7th at 1pm all seniors are welcomed to come to campus to take a class picture on the football field. A big thank you to the senior parent group for their help with this event. We will be taking a picture with a drone while following all safety guidelines. There are some items to take care of before you are cleared to campus so please see this Link: Senior Drone Picture for the full details. Feel free to share with all senior families!

Counseling Updates

SUMMER SCHOOL 2021: Accepting Applications now!

The district will be offering summer school from June 21- July 30, 2021. There will be an option to make up 4 credits through ONSITE learning or 2 credits through online learning. More information about summer school and the required applications can be found on the SRHS counseling website summer school page. If your student has any D’s or F’s that need to be remediated for college or graduation, it is best to submit the application as soon as possible to secure their spot in summer school. Students can verify the grades they have earned in high school by viewing their unofficial transcript in the PowerSchool Student Portal. The deadline to submit the summer school application is May 21st.

SENIOR STUDENTS – TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS:

View the process to request transcripts for the college admissions appeal process, for colleges who want a current/progress transcript during your acceptance of admissions and your final transcript on the Transcript Request Page on the Counseling Website. All transcripts will be automatically sent electronically through Naviance, unless requested differently in the notes section when submitting their request.

-------------------- “Hybrid” Student Update--------------------

Changing from “Hybrid” to “Online Only”

If you are interested in changing your learning option to “online only,” please reach out to your respective Vice Principal and they will share the Google Form with you for our records. Due to the numerous logistics involved in officially changing the learning option in our system, the advisory class in your child’s schedule will take a few days to change. Until the change (and until we can send new, updated rosters to teachers), teachers will still include students as “hybrid” students and take attendance accordingly. We will work to make these changes in our system ASAP.

Onsite Attendance - Reminder

Per the SDUSD attendance policy, if “hybrid” students are not onsite but attending class through Zoom, teachers have been instructed to mark these students absent before 12pm. In the afternoon, an “all call” will go out to these families informing them their child is not attending school onsite. This is to ensure families know their child is not attending school onsite. In the afternoon, teachers can then go back and mark these students present since they attended Zoom (per the SDUSD attendance policy). Student attendance will not be penalized since the teachers will go back and mark students present in the afternoon.

-------------------- “Online Only” Student Update--------------------

“Online Only” to “Hybrid” Learning Option

If “online only” families are interested in returning to campus for the “hybrid” option, please complete this Google Form: Online Only to Hybrid. I have the Google Form set up to give you a receipt once you submit. Please keep this receipt for your records. We will reach out to you as soon as we are able to accommodate your child.

Picking up Classroom Materials

For “online only” students who need to pick up classroom materials, see this Link: Item Pick-up for the dates and the protocol.

That’s all for today. Have a great rest of the evening.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D
